The White House is reportedly considering having Harriet Miers give a speech to generate more support for her SCOTUS nomination. If true, it's a bad idea. The Senate would rightly be antagonized, as it should be the first to hear Miers public comments on her nomination.
I understand the that White House is very distracted now, with the Fitzgerald investigation coming to a conclusion, but that's no excuse for ill-thought out ideas like this.
