The New York Times seems to be surprised that Israel apparently has plans to occupy a small portion of Southern Lebanon with an IDF ground force. I'm not sure why this is news to the Times, as it makes complete sense for Israel to use all means to prevent a reinfiltration of Hezbollah terrorists into the area until an international force that Israel trusts can take the place of the IDF.

I confidently suspect that Israel's reported planned action does not fit in with the NYT's view of the situation, but I am still rather amused that the Times finds Israel's apparent impending occupation surprising, in view of the events of the last couple of weeks.
