Kofi Annan has asserted that the Israeli strike on a UN base in Southern Lebanon was "apparently deliberate." He offers no evidence, of course. Annan doesn't have time to determine if there is any evidence to support his outrageous claim, as he is too busy trying to secure a cease-fire that would leave Hezbollah powerful enough to still be a big threat to Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Olmert is justifiably "dismayed" at Annan's comments. Israel's ambassador to Washington is calling on the unhinged Annan to apologize.
The ambassador shouldn't hold his breath.
