Condi Rice Gets The Nod
![]()
Only Senators Boxer and Kerry (nicknamed "dummy" and "loser," respectively) went against Condoleeza Rice, as the Foreign Relations Committee voted to confirm her 16-2.
Of course, John Kerry would have voted against any good candidate (and Condi is a stellar one) that George W. Bush sent up, as he just cannot yet accept the reality of his November loss. He couldn't even let the campaign go in some of his comments at the hearing yesterday.
Barbara Boxer, I am afraid to say, was born with the inability to recognize a good nominee. She just isn't capable. California is saddled with her for some time to come, but at least they have Dianne Feinstein, who is occasionally able to come to an informed, sober judgement on serious matters.
UPDATE: Condi does admit "some mistakes."
UPDATE: Instapundit on John Kerry:
BACK DURING THE ELECTION, we were told that characterizations of John Kerry as the most liberal Senator were an outrageous calumny, leading me to comment: "Gosh, you'd think that being 'liberal' was bad or something!"Well, I don't know about most liberal, but the fact is that of the Democrats on the Foreign Relations Committee, only John Kerry and Barbara Boxer voted against Condi Rice. And Kerry's embarrassing performance during the hearings certainly puts him in a class with Boxer.
I agree with Kos: He would have been an "unmitigated disaster" as President. I hope the Democrats do better in 2008, because it would be bad for the country -- and, ultimately, the Republicans -- if they became as marginalized as the Tories have in Britain. And performances like this make me wonder if that's not in the cards.
Yikes - I find myself in agreement with Kos as well? Miracles do happen.
UPDATE: Captain's Quarters with more on the stupidity and dishonesty of Barbara Boxer.
