North Korea Admits Nukes, Won't Return To Talks

North Korea has now admitted publicly what it has been saying privately for quite some time, and it won't return to the six-way talks intended to find a negotiated solution to the matter.

This admission of what we already essentially knew, along with Iran's determination to continue with its nuclear efforts, is a grave reminder that a workable missile defense system in the near futute will be of paramount importance to this nation's security. That's why things like this worry me. Now is not the time to be cutting missile defense.

China can't be too happy with North Korea's announcement, and you can bet that the Japanese are apoplectic.

This is precisely why I fought so hard here to support the president for reelection. George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld and Condoleeza Rice are infinitely more preferable choices to manage a situation such as this than John Kerry, John Edwards, Sandy Berger and Richard Holbrooke. Can you imagine them in charge at a time like this? I tremble when even approaching the thought of it.
