Washington State Governor Update

Christine Gregoire and the Democrats in Washington are still "discovering" votes and still trying to steal the election. Gregoire couldn't prevent herself from losing the state $18 million because of a missed court deadline, and she can't resist even more brazenly pathetic tactics in trying to steal the election from Dino Rossi:

After a while, you really do have to start laughing at the whole situation in Washington - I know it is very serious business and we do have to do all we can to prevent the Democrats from stealing an election, but their actions in Washington have reached the level of pure farce. I hope some screenwriters are watching this closely, because doing this up as a movie would be a comedy blockbuster.

According to latest reports, Republican Dino Rossi has maintained a 74 vote lead over Democrat Christine Gregoire with three counties left to count - including, of course, Democrat-heavy King County. Here's the hilarious part of it: that 74 vote lead is fine and dandy for Rossi except for the fact that the Democrats managed to find some extra ballots in King County, which went about 57% for Gregoire. The sequence of events, from what I've gathered just by reading the news, is that as the Democrat-demanded hand recount started up, it appeared that Rossi was going to get a net gain of votes over his 42 vote win after the initial machine recount - can't have that, now can we?

So, hey presto!, uncounted ballots were discovered in King County. At first, it was 561 discovered ballots but if you take 57% of 561 you get 320 votes for Gregoire which was not enough to win given Rossi's vote pickups elsewhere. Now we are told that the number of discovered ballots is 573 - which with 57% going for Gregoire would give her 327 votes, or a 7 vote net lead (guess they wanted to pad it by six just in case the other two uncounted Counties come up with a few more Rossi votes). Our fellow Republicans in Washington are still fighting it - and perhaps the increasing brazeness of the Democratic attempts to steal the election will make the Washington courts call a halt but I've never seen a more pathetic thing in my life...it's like political power is crack for the Democrats.

Our Democrats act as if the only acceptable outcome of a vote is a Democratic victory - if a Republican wins, it is automatically illegitimate; and if you're close, then manufacture votes until you get the "correct" outcome. The lesson for us GOPers in this is that we really have to work harder - got to keep that margin of victory at least a percentage point or two lest we continually have to deal with spoiled-brat Democrats who can't stand it when they lose.

UPDATE: A sensible judge blocks the Democrats:

The state Republican Party's request to keep more than 700 disputed King County election ballots from being counted in the governor's race was granted by a Superior Court judge this afternoon.

Pierce County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Arend ruled that since the ballots had not been made a part of the first vote count, they shouldn't be included in the recount now underway.

"It's clear to me it is not appropriate to revisit the decision whether the ballots should or should not be considered," she said.

Democrats say they will appeal immediately to the State Supreme Court.

Yes, the Democrats have an election to steal, and they're not going to let a mere superior court judge's sensible ruling stop them.
